"La Zafra" Brings a Story of Migration and Belonging to Greenville, and We Want Our Community in the Room
Centre Stage is presenting La Zafra, a powerful new musical inspired by true events. The story follows Moises, a young Mexican migrant worker whose journey takes him from the sugar cane fields of Mante, Tamaulipas, to the apple orchards of Upstate South Carolina. Along the way, he finds friendship, love, and the complicated meaning of the American Dream. Featuring both Spanish and English, La Zafra was written with Mexican characters and experiences at its center, with book and lyrics by Mario Suarez and music, orchestrations, and arrangements by Iliana Rose.
Centre Stage is presenting La Zafra as a Workshop Presentation, a polished theatrical performance with professional actors and musicians while the show continues to develop. This is a rare chance to experience the musical, not just watch a rehearsal, and to meet the artists behind it.
